Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood.

Acts 20:28

  • In addition to serving as our lead pastor, Dr. Pohlman also serves as Associate Professor of Preaching and Pastoral Ministry and Chair of the Department of Ministry and Proclamation at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. Pastor Mike is married to his beloved wife Anna and the proud father of seven children. A favorite biblical passage that sums up Pastor Mike’s life ambition is Romans 12:1–2:

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Pastor Mike on serving at Providence Baptist Church:

“It is one of the greatest mercies of God in my life that I get to serve as a pastor. To be enlisted by the King of kings to serve his people in the local church is an immeasurable blessing and stewardship worth all my vital energies. By God’s grace, I will prove faithful as an undershepherd to the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ.”

  • In addition to serving as a pastor at Providence, Steve serves as Professor of Christian Theology at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. Steve is married to his college bride Karen and he is the father of three sons and two daughters and the grandfather of five children. One of his favorite texts that focuses on the glory and Lordship of Christ over every area of life is Colossians 1:15-18:

The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation because in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.

Pastor Steve on serving at Providence Baptist Church:

"To serve our triune God and his people is a privilege, honor, and huge responsibility. My aim is to proclaim Christ so that the church may be found perfect in him, we will not be tossed back and forth by every wind of doctrine, and that we  will be found faithful to God's Word and the Lord of the church."
